Naval Dockyard Builds 25 Man House Boat for the Nigeria Navy

The Nigerian Navy recently stepped up her efforts to curtail crude oil theft by introducing choke-points at selected points in the creeks. This innovation yielded plethora of results since its inception, making it nearly impossible for miscreants to foment trouble. In furtherance to this stride by the Nigerian navy, the Naval Dockyard was tasked to produce a 25 Man House Boat to be deployed on completion. The construction of the boat commenced in Dec 18 and tremendous progress has been made. The boat has been moved from the construction site to one of the Twin docks to allow for the fitting of the modular cabins. The cabins designed to accommodate 25 men, requires steel reinforcement to give the occupants reasonable protection from enemy gun fire. Currently, the reinforcement and fitting of the cabins is ongoing and should be completed before the end of February 2019. Suffice to state that, the construction work is now on Day 72 indicating that the house boat will soon be made available for deployment to an area to be decided by the leadership of the Navy. This project demonstrates Naval Dockyard Limited’s leadership in Nigeria’s indigenous shipbuilding and repair business.
